The Daejeon Bread Festival: A Gathering of Renowned Bakeries Nationwide

The annual 'Bread Festival' in Daejeon buzzes with bread enthusiasts from all over the country. Featuring 69 distinctive bakeries, including Daejeon's famous Sungsimdang Bakery, the festival fills the air with the rich aroma of freshly baked bread. Visitors enjoy the fun of choosing various breads and indulging in diverse cultural performances.

Entertaining events like the 'Bread Golden Bell Challenge' with prizes for correct answers, a 'Bread Crane' game to pick macarons, a 15-meter long roll cake cutting performance, bread tasting programs, busking performances by local Daejeon artists, mime, and random play dance were conducted. Nightly K-POP artist performances adorned the autumn evenings. The Daejeon Bread Festival marked its place as one of Daejeon's signature events, drawing over 15,000 visitors during the festival.

Candle Light Concert; Autumn Night Classical Concert with 3,500 candles

The 'D-LIGHT Daejeon Candlelight Concert' was held at Habit Mulbit Square in Expo Science Park, illuminated by 3,500 candles. The 'Candlelight Concert,' viewed by over 3 million people in more than 100 cities worldwide, including New York, Paris, and Barcelona, is a global cultural and arts tourism content that features LED candlelight stages with performances ranging from classical to film music. This concert series, part of a project highlighting seven cities as specialized nighttime tourist destinations, started in Gangneung on October 14, went through Incheon, and unfolded in Daejeon on October 28.

The performance featured a string quartet rendition of songs like K-pop singer IU’s 'Through the Night,' pianist Yiruma’s 'When the Love Falls,' and Italian composer Ennio Morricone's 'Cinema Paradiso' (from the Cinema Paradiso soundtrack), with melodies resonating around the Hanbit Tower, carried by the autumn breeze to the audience.
