Daejeon city and Daejeon Tourism Organization spurring vitalization of medical and wellness tourism

Daejeon city and Daejeon Tourism Organization held a workshop on March 2nd to actively promote the attraction of foreign patients. It was a place to share business plans for foreign patient attracting and directions for 2023, and collect opinions from medical institutions and medical tour agencies.

Daejeon city and Daejeon Tourism Organization said that they plan to promote various projects to revitalize medical tourism, which has decreased due to COVID-19 in the past two years. They plan to discover resources for medical tourism in Daejeon, hold workshops to strengthen networking between partners, and build an overseas base support center to attract medical tourists. They also plan to support attracting foreign patient to Daejeon by fostering professional coordinators to strengthen the acceptance posture and supporting the development of leading institutions for medical and wellness tourism. In addition, they plan to actively promote Daejeon's medical and wellness resources by participating in domestic and overseas exhibitions and holding overseas PR briefings for target countries, and promoting FAM tours to attract patients by utilizing their network of overseas travel agencies.

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Daejeon Tourism Organization promoted a digital healthcare forum by establishing a medical business council and developed medical products using local-specific superior technology. And through an online newsletter, Daejeon medical wellness infrastructure was promoted for over 1,000 overseas destinations, festival-linked medical tour programs were developed, and FAM tours were promoted for US armed forces in Korea. This year, they are trying to diversify their overseas marketing business by developing medical tourism products, wellness tourism forums, training professional coordinators, and participating in overseas fairs and briefings. In order to encourage active participation of medical institutions and attracting businesses, workshops are held quarterly to share business between medical institutions and travel agencies and to sign joint agreements to promote attracting foreign patients.
