Launches Zero-Contact Medical Platform (MODOC) for Foreigners
Daejeon Metropolitan City has jointly launched MODOC, a zero-contact medical platform for foreigners, with the Daejeon International Marketing Enterprise (DIME) and SHI. The application providing services in English and Chinese allows foreigners living in Daejeon to discover the nearest medical institution by entering their symptoms and the type of specialist they are looking for and then make an appointment and consult the staff via text or phone. In order to better accommodate those living outside Korea during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to travel restrictions, overseas users are allowed to fill out the medical questionnaire prior to their visit or have follow-ups. Through these services, MODOC is expected to help raise awareness of Daejeon’s outstanding healthcare infrastructure and services.
Foreign residents of Daejeon can download the app to search for a nearby medical institution using the location-based service function and obtain detailed information on the clinics and hospitals that interest them. They can also consult the staff and make an appointment using the chat feature or by phone. Those residing outside Korea can fill out the medical questionnaire on the app, in addition to uploading and sharing their medical records, making an appointment, consulting the staff, and more.
DIME (President Go Kyung-gon) announced its plans to promote Daejeon’s advanced medical technology and services overseas through the platform and enhance the accessibility of medical care in Daejeon for foreigners.
Chungnam National University Hospital Launches Unstructured Healthcare Data Platform
Chungnam National University Hospital (CNUH; President Yoon Hwan-joong) has launched an unstructured healthcare data integration and management platform for integration, storage, management, and analysis of medical images and unstructured data concerning healthcare to pursue precision medicine and artificial intelligence research in full swing.
Last December, CNUH chose INFINITT Healthcare, a healthcare IT company, to carry out a project to develop an unstructured healthcare data integration and management platform. Through this project, the necessary hardware and solutions for integrating and utilizing data from across the hospital were set up. The project is aimed at bringing value to patients as well as the hospital and its medical staff by integrating medical images and unstructured data from various departments, including but not limited to Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Oncology, and Cardiology and utilizing them in treatment and research. INFINITT Healthcare was responsible for installing the hardware, such as servers and storages, building the INFINITT Healthcare Platform for integrating all the data, interlinking solutions for different departments, and training users.
CNUH President Yoon said, “With the establishment of the unstructured healthcare data integration and management platform, we now have a value chain for converting healthcare data into assets through data production, integration, storage, management, analysis, and utilization. [...] By creating a virtuous cycle such as utilizing healthcare data in precision medicine and AI research, we will emerge as a world-class data science institution.” CNUH, which has been chosen for the government program aimed at assisting data-centered hospitals and has formed a bio-healthcare cluster with medical institutions in the region such as CNUH Sejong, is regarded as a trailblazer in the medical data sector.
