We opened in May 2014, which makes this our seventh year in operation. There was just me in the beginning, but a new doctor joined us almost every year, so now we have five plastic surgeons specializing in diverse areas of plastic surgery working at the hospital. We are also staffed with two anesthesiologists.

We’ve expanded twice, and we even established a petit surgery clinic with an operating room and waiting room this April. So, we not only perform plastic surgery but also offer various other non-surgical medical services, including petit surgery procedures, skin laser procedures, and body sculpting procedures.

There has been a growing demand for more advanced and specialized plastic surgery. To ensure high satisfaction, we’ve founded a design firm called ARTRA with medical illustration designers in order to “design” the look before the procedure based on an accurate understanding of the patient needs with respect to their appearance, features, degree of aging, and so on. Also, we’ve established Innov Bio, a manufacturer of 3D implants for the human body, at Daedeok Innopolis and applied for the GMP certification and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) approval. Everyone at the hospital is dedicated to providing a total solution for issues concerning the face.

Our motto is to “contribute to the betterment of people’s lives by making people and the world more beautiful.” We want to be with our patients in their journeys to discover their beauty, while escaping from any inconveniences, self-esteem issues, and unfair treatment they have faced due to their appearance. We consider “visualization,” “individualization,” and “systematization” as our three core values during that process.

First, what is difficult when it comes to plastic surgery is the understanding of shapes. The doctor and patient must be able to communicate with each other regarding the desired shapes based on an understanding of three-dimensional shapes. This is why 3D models are needed, and the doctor and patient need to agree upon a certain look.

Second, it’s individualization. Each person is different, in terms of personality and propensities. There are, for instance, people who want a noticeable change in their looks, but then there are others who want it to go unnoticed. As experts when it comes to the face, we must be able to identify such individual needs and cater to them.

Third, it’s systematization. Plastic surgery is arguably one of the most complex medical services there is. Back when I was a medical student, there weren’t that many different types, methods, or materials available in the area of plastic surgery, but more recently, it has become a field that’s constantly undergoing revolutionary changes each year. That’s why I’m trying to systematize all the processes associated with this complex field and various application and ensure high satisfaction when delivering medical information, personalized care and services, information on the treatment process, and so on.

Our hospital is staffed with anesthesiologists who administer anesthesia and monitor the patient’s vitals before and after surgery. We’ve introduced HEPA filters to eliminate microparticles and microorganisms to prevent secondary infections, and to ensure cleanliness and sanitation during surgery, all of our medical and diagnostic equipment are sterilized and disinfected. We are equipped with defibrillators and other emergency medical equipment so that we are prepared for any potential emergencies.
In order to ensure satisfying results and fast recovery after surgery, skilled estheticians provide professional follow-up care, and we also offer laser treatments and skincare products to minimize scarring.

We are equipped with the necessary infrastructure to accommodate foreign patients, so we’ve decided to officially expand our overseas network by working together with Daejeon City and the Daejeon International Marketing Enterprise (DIME). However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve been focusing on online PR activities. We are improving our website to better assist foreign visitors who found out about us through the DIME.

The most important thing to remember if you want to obtain satisfying results from plastic surgery and avoid complications and adverse effects is to receive an accurate diagnosis and familiarize yourself with preoperative precautions based on an in-depth consultation. Something else you should look for is whether the hospital is equipped with a safety control system and offers systematic postoperative care. At Face Plastic Surgery Center, we use our CT equipment, 3D scanner, 3D printer and other latest equipment to present patients with visual materials during consultations. By presenting images, concepts that are difficult to understand become more intuitive, and you will know exactly what kind of surgery you will be receiving. This will in turn help reduce anxiety.
We also have a video on the preoperative precautions that patients need to adhere to for each type of surgery, and we use monitoring equipment during surgery to ensure patient safety. After surgery, we closely monitor the progress. Plastic surgeons provide tailored postoperative care based on laser or high-frequency treatments and so on and offer touchups so as to minimize dissatisfaction, if any.
You might worry about receiving plastic surgery in a foreign country. But in Korea, it is very common and safe to undergo plastic surgery. Of course, safety is not guaranteed by all plastic surgery hospitals, but at Face Plastic Surgery Center, our plastic surgeons are very experienced, attested by the fact that they perform around 5,000 operations and procedures in total annually.
